Looks like even the best of quality morning new programs can turn to the dark side. Instead of interviewing the Newbery and Caldecott winners on Monday morning (traditionally done after the ALA awards), they decided to put Snooki on instead (and others). I have nothing against the "star", but when you cut out something that effects the nation as a whole and replace it with....her, then I have issues.
It's not Snooki's fault, we are all trying to earn a dollar, so let's try to keep her out of the convo. The issue is the major fail that is the Today Show. Al's Book Club For Kids is a nationally recognized book club for kids that draws major authors to the show. It baffles me that the Today Show would bump coverage of the ALA Youth Media Awards for something so very trivial. In ten years, will we still be gossiping about The Jersey Shore cast? Oh gosh, I hope not. The omission from Monday's programming has me so upset that I decided to do something about it. I blogged here, I posted a comment to the Today Show's discussion board and I tweeted my disgust. If you feel the same way, I invite you to do the same.

Here is what I tweeted, feel free to choose this or your own. "Where were the Newbery and Caldecott winners @todayshow? National LITERACY is news in case you forgot that. Not a flash in the pan "star"."
