From ALA:
Here are some of my favorite books from ALA. I consider myself lucky to get them considering everyone wanted a copy. There has been a lot of hoopla lately about who got what and if their piles were too high. I won't comment extensively on that. Others are saying great things in defense of the blogging community.
I did, however, want to praise my blogging/librarian/author/publishing friends for raising $101 dollars for the Freedom To Read Foundation during ALA. 75-80 book loving people came to a party I hosted on Friday night. We talked shop, passed around books, and rallied around our beloved Texas authors. Some of these same bloggers have been generous many times over. They donated 500 books to the Austin Children's Shelter and another 500 books to Safe Place last year in addition to their own local libraries and schools. Now, they are rallying around a Texas blogger who lost everything in a house fire during ALA. Thank you all for your generosity!
